How do I make a seating chart?
Seating
charts are unfortunately not available in PowerSchool
at this time.
If you would
like to make a seating chart using your current student data, you can do so in Making the Grade.
- Launch PowerTeacher Gradebook
- Select the Class on left.
- Click the Reports tab at top.
- Scroll down to Student Roster and select.
- Make the following selections on the report:
- Order Type: Export CSV
- Section: Selected class
- Students: Enrolled Class
- Student Info: Student Name
- Sort: Student Last Name
- Click Run Report.
- Click Open Report and an Excel spreadsheet
will open.
- Click on the File menu at top to do a Save As.
You can rename the file, but be sure to leave the .csv
at the end, or this will not import into Making
the Grade. Make a note of where you are saving to so that you can find
this file later.
- Click Save. On the next dialog box that pops
up, click Yes.
- Open Making the Grade
- Set up a New Class. At the bottom of that
screen, set to "All but Roster".
- You will get to a screen with a BLANK roster
of student names. Click Import.
- Click "ASCII/Test File".
- Find the .csv file
you saved earlier. Click Done.
- Notice that Names 1 and 2 need
to be deleted with the Edit Student menu. Drop and delete.
- Now you are ready to create your seating
charts.
